Great minds of conservatism
November 22, 2006
It wasn’t exactly a clash of the titans, but this panel discussion at the Federalist Society National Lawyers Convention sounds like it would have kept The Daily Show in material for the rest of the decade. The panelists included such piercing legal minds as Phyllis Schlafly and Cyril Burt — excuse me, Charles Murray — debating the role of government in shaping culture , which of course turned into a foam-flecked shouting match over gay marriage.
To me, having Charles Murray defend liberty is as no-win a proposition as having Phyllis Schlafly promote morality, but as a glimpse into what passes for intellectual discourse on the conservative side of the aisle, the post is priceless.
