A vigil moment

December 16, 2006

Today, as she does every Saturday morning, the Woman Warrior oversaw the regular Central Jersey vigil against the Iraq War. The good sized crowd included three neighborhood boys who wanted to help spread out the memorial wall bearing the names of the soldiers killed since the shooting began.

The Woman Warrior remembered that one of the boys is from an Orthodox Jewish family, and she asked him if his parents would be okay with him joining in the vigil.

“They’re okay with it,” he said. “They’re against the war, too. They’re just pretending like it isn’t happening.”

They have a lot of company.
