Wal-Mart World

During the days when the sun never set on the British empire, schoolteachers would point out all the pink on the map of the world — the pink representing, of course, British colonies and vassal states.

The long day finally saw its sunset, but the Wal-Mart empire is every bit as formidable. Check out this map that sizes the nations of the world according to the degree they contribute products to Wal-Mart

    Wow. I refuse to shop at Walmart for various reasons, not the least of which is the way they ruin independent businesses in small towns. Even if the junk items they sell were free I wouldn’t go there.

    I can’t help but wonder if the ubiquity of Chinese-manufactured products is due in no small part to Walmart.
