    Ha ha ha ha ha! Where are the Buddhists – oh, they’re borderline evolutionists. How about the Hindus – oops, they understand allegory. I guess the two rival gangs of repressives will just have to duke it out!

    If you go to youtube and search for harunyaha (Is that how his name is spelled? Ugh.) you’ll find a whole series of nature videos, each ending with the proposition that this or that animal behavior is proof of Allah. Yeah. Some of them make quite a stretch to come to that conclusion.

    As a practical matter you can believe anything you want about things which don’t affect your day to day survivability. If religion promised (for instance) that faith allowed walking into moving traffic then the consequences would be discouraging. But disconnected fantasies and speculation are pleasant things and part of human nature. E.g. you can happily claim the earth sits on the back of a turtle. Unless you’re a cosmological scientist, the lack of predictive power in such belief doesn’t do anything to your career.
